How To Find Inspiration As a Photographer - Part 2

A few weeks ago I wrote a post about how to find inspiration as a photographer, following a video I watched of Brooke Shaden on Youtube.

This week I would like to share with you one of the ways I find inspiration.  A lot of my inspiration comes from film.  There are loads of ways you can be inspired by film, whether it's the storyline or the characters, or one character in particular, the style the films been shot, anything!

Some films that I have found great inspiration from in the past are Alfred Hitchcock films. I created a whole series of images and most of the inspiration for these images came from film.  'Psycho', 'Rear Window' and 'Vertigo' to name a few.  Then it is also interesting to look at how these films have been re-interpreted in the modern age.

Not everybody will instantly be inspired from film, but you can take the time to find inspiration by taking notes of certain film stills and what colours and settings are used that you might want to recreate.

Another way I find inspiration is by reading fashion magazines, it's good practice to flick through magazines that you enjoy reading, and tearing out pages that inspire you, and creating mood boards from them! This way you have all the images together and can refer back to them when you are feeling uninspired.
Some of my favourites are Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Total Film.

I hope you can find some kind of inspiration from this short post! Comment down below how you find inspiration!
